Eagles and Loons, Oh My!

May 9, 2015 by Roy Forsberg

Snow shovel away – check. Winter jacket stowed and sandals out – check. Glaciers on our lawn melted – check. Sand cleaned from parking lot – check. Ice out on the Tripp Lake in Poland Maine – check.

However, the clearest sign that winter is over and spring is here for good is that the special residents of Tripp Lake have declared it so by their return. The eagles and loons are back! These beautiful birds are a sight to behold. And one beautiful eagle decided he was happy to be back and put on a show last week.

Eagles on Tripp Lake in Poland Maine

Once on both the US and Maine endangered species list, bald eagles have been making a comeback. Fortunately they are no longer on that list. I caught a glimpse of a two year old juvenile last week and raced for the camera, a Nikon D5200 with my new (this Christmas) AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300mm telephoto lens. What a spectacular bird! I hope you enjoy this slideshow as much as Sue and I do.

Not to be outdone, the adult bald eagle

March 25, 2015 by Roy Forsberg

Recreation is an antidote for the high pressure of today’s hectic, 24×7, plugged-in world. It’s the balm that soothes the spirit. There are oodles of recreation options for walking, hiking and running within a short distance of the Inn.  I haven’t explored everywhere around the Inn yet, but for what I have covered, here are some of the best.

Coffee – Wake Up and Smell That Coffee!

March 23, 2015 by Roy Forsberg

Coffee! For so many people it’s one of the most important parts of the day. The aroma. The depth of flavor. The gentle “pick me up”. Mmmmm, ahhhhh! At the Wolf Cove Inn we take coffee seriously. Poured in our own custom, hand-made mugs from Deneen Pottery you will start your day on the right foot with a great cup of java joe.

Coffee! The Story Behind The Story

When Sue and I became the owners of the Wolf Cove Inn, we had many changes brewing in our minds. One such change was the coffee. When we purchased the Inn, Green Mountain coffee was offered. Green Mountain makes wonderful coffee, but really, how can a Maine Inn that embraces everything Maine serve coffee that comes from Vermont? Not happening! What to serve was an easy choice.
