Coffee – Wake Up and Smell That Coffee!

March 23, 2015 by Roy Forsberg

Coffee! For so many people it’s one of the most important parts of the day. The aroma. The depth of flavor. The gentle “pick me up”. Mmmmm, ahhhhh! At the Wolf Cove Inn we take coffee seriously. Poured in our own custom, hand-made mugs from Deneen Pottery you will start your day on the right foot with a great cup of java joe.

Coffee! The Story Behind The Story

When Sue and I became the owners of the Wolf Cove Inn, we had many changes brewing in our minds. One such change was the coffee. When we purchased the Inn, Green Mountain coffee was offered. Green Mountain makes wonderful coffee, but really, how can a Maine Inn that embraces everything Maine serve coffee that comes from Vermont? Not happening! What to serve was an easy choice.

Autumn Harvest Baked French Toast Recipe

February 27, 2015 by Roy Forsberg

Our Autumn Harvest Baked French Toast recipe (aka Winter Warmer Baked French Toast) is one of our guest’s favorite breakfasts at the Wolf Cove Inn.  It’s up for grabs whether this recipe or our various Quiches get the most great comments in the morning.  You can also find the recipe on the Wolf Cove Inn Pinterest board.  Your taste buds will be having a party!

Make the casserole the day (or night) before and refrigerate overnight.  You may also make the syrup the night before and refrigerate.  Prep time is about 30 minutes.  Plan to remove the casserole from the refrigerator about an hour and 40 minutes before you wish to serve.   That timeframe consists of bringing the casserole to room temperature for 30 minutes before placing it in the pre-heated oven, baking for an hour and then resting for 10 minutes prior to plating.

***Update – Sadly, both of these restaurants are now closed.***

Sue and I have recently dined at two new area restaurants in Lewiston, Maine.  Both were terrific dining experiences that we’d like to tell you about.  They are Marche Kitchen and Wine Bar and Rails.

Marche Kitchen and Wine Bar

While not technically in the new area restaurants category (they’ve been serving lunch for a while), Marche began serving dinner this past summer.  Sue and I finally got over there in November.  We should have gone long before that!  It was excellent.

Marche is an intimate restaurant where your meal …
