About Maine Christmas Trees
First, a note about different kinds of trees you may encounter on your trip:
- Fraser Fir: A regal, richly fragrant native tree, it has bicolor needles — deep green on top, silvery white below. It’s generally slender profile suits small rooms. Stiff branches hold ornaments well. The combination of form, needle retention, dark blue-green color and pleasant scent have made this tree very popular.
- Balsam Fir: A fragrant balsam scent, and known as the traditional Christmas Tree. It has excellent form and that great pine tree smell.
- Balsam/Fraser Hybrid: This tree combines the qualities of both the Balsam Fir and Fraser Fir, producing a beautifully shaped tree, excellent needle retention and the fragrance of the Balsam Fir.
- Canaan Fir: Very similar to a Balsam/Fraser hybrid.
