Updated for 2024 — Summer brings out the best in all of us. These summer events in Maine offer fun things to do with family and friends. Whether you love food and wine, arts and crafts, or Moxie, here are a few of the summer events we know you’ll enjoy. Some are traditional, while others are unique and just plain quirky. But each event promises a fun and memorable time. What’s more, each summer event is an easy drive to the Wolf Cove Inn, an exceptional bed and breakfast on the shores of Tripp Lake.

South Berwick Strawberry Festival
JUNE 29 | South Berwick — This annual festival honors the value of volunteerism and community. Come enjoy music, food, and entertainment – all focused on celebrating the humble strawberry.
Windjammer Days
JUNE 23-29 | Boothbay — An annual salute to Maine’s maritime history, Windjammer Days kicks off summer in Maine. The week includes: Harbor Aglow, Pirates of the Dark Rose, Cod Fish Races, Gathering of the Fleet, Street Parade, Fireworks over the Harbor, Vintage Boat Parade & Pier Party, and Artist’s Alley.

4th of July Fireworks
July 4 | Statewide — Depending on your schedule of activities for the day, we’re near several area 4th of July celebrations. Want to stay and play in the water? There are celebrations nearby in Lewiston, Bridgton, Naples, and Norway. If you’re heading out on a day trip to Brunswick, Camden, or Boothbay, you’ll find plenty of sparks and flares there too.
The Moxie Festival
July 12-14 | Lisbon — Calling all Moxie fans. Join like-minded folks for three days of peace, love, and Moxie with a line-up of recipe, chugging, and Whoopie Pie eating contests, as well as a 5K race, car show, and parade.
Bates Dance Festival
Summer Battle | July 26-28 | Lewiston —The Bates Dance Festival blends an international community of choreographers, performers, educators, and students, including renowned contemporary dance artists from around the world to celebrate the art of dance.
Yarmouth Clam Festival
July 19-21 | Yarmouth — Bivalve lovers unite to celebrate all things oysters, scallops, and mussels with a parade, carnival, games, arts, crafts, and more.
Maine Outdoor Film Festival
July 24-28 | Portland — Thousands of attendees, filmmakers, athletes, volunteers, and brands throughout the world come together to honor the art of film making. Enjoy film screenings international film makers in the great Maine outdoors.

Wild Blueberry Festival
August 3-4 | Statewide — Celebrate the wild blueberry during this wild weekend of blueberry farm tours, inventive blueberry dishes, and an opportunity pick-your-own fresh berries.
Great Falls Balloon Festival
2024 Dates TBD | Lewiston-Auburn — Hot air balloons never look so beautiful as they do against Maine’s scenic landscape. Come feel the thrill of seeing the balloons take flight. Or hop in the basket for your own sky ride to experience floating on air. Hot air balloon rides are whimsical and exciting, yet peaceful and serene. Rides do fill up fast, so reserve early.
Portland Fine Craft Show
August 24 | Portland — Join a gathering of 100 juried artists from Maine and the Northeast as they exhibit their works in a large variety of media, from baskets, ceramics, and furniture to glass, leather, stone, and wood. This well-organized and high-quality event will issue awards for Best Booth Design and Best of Show. Cast your own vote for The People’s Choice Award.
