Wow, is the Wolf Cove Inn ever a mess right now! All demolition work in the new construction areas is complete. Framing is well underway, as is electrical rough-in. Plumbing rough-in begins next week. As well we’ll begin taking down wallpaper and taking up carpets in rooms that are (only!) getting a facelift. We are in good shape to re-open for business May 1st. Oh, and the Town of Poland has approved the Wolf Cove Inn liquor license application (which now goes to the state). So get ready for afternoon wine and cheese tastings (and if you like the wine you can get a bottle or two or three to take to your room.)
Oh The Mess!
Say goodbye to the old bathroom that was shared by the former Sweet Alyssum and Hollyhock rooms. This is on its way to becoming the spa and bath for the Winter Harbor Suite. You’ll enjoy a spa, two person shower and double vanity. And we are making this bathroom (and the suite) Americans With Disabilities (ADA) compliant.
OK, use your imagination here! Picture a beautiful spa, two person shower and double vanity in the new Winter Harbor spa and bath. Definitely has more elbow room than before. And the double vanity will surely aid those “on the go” folks and families that avail themselves of the sleeper sofa we’ll have for the kiddos in the Winter Harbor suite living area.
There are a few things going on here. In order to create the Winter Harbor suite we needed to move the door to Casco Bay (formerly Evergreen). The hole in the wall on the left is where the new door will be. Also, to enlarge the bathroom for Winter Harbor we needed to claim some storage space on the right. Well all that toilet paper, tissue, shampoo, sheets and towels need to go somewhere! So we are claiming former hall space to build storage for all those essentials.
This will be the new grand spa/bath and living room area in the new Acadia suite. It was formerly a common room with an adjoining half bath. Instead of watching TV, you will romantically luxuriate in the large spa or get really clean in the shower for two 🙂 ! Can you say “romance” at the Wolf Cove Inn?!
This once was a kitchenette in the Begonia room on the 3rd floor. It is now framed for a bathroom in the new “The Bigelows” room. Nothing as grand as what is going on in Acadia and Winter Harbor, but it provides the basics for our “few but meaningful frills” guests at the Inn.
What once was a large gift shop is one its way to becoming our bedroom and a small reception area and gift shop. While smaller than before you’ll find special items in the shop like the new luxury linens you’ll be sleeping on and poo-pourri (go ahead and Google it and enjoy the video!)
